Hi RichardThank you for your

Hi Richard

Thank you for your interest in the "MAG7" as in, Magnificent Seven harmonica.

I'm afraid the only complete set ever built is the collection in my personal gigging harp case. They were pretty labor intensive to build. It never ceases to amaze me how much thunder I can dispense with these babies. Absolutely air tight when married to the right bullet/biscuit mic.

I was flattered, while in Japan--during a rare meeting with Manji Suzuki (yes, the founder of Suzuki Musical Instruments), Andy Just , Wachiro "Tachi-San" Tachikawa, and myself, that Mr. Suzuki was particularly curious about my set of Mag 7 harmonicas (he even played one). Hey now wait a minute, do you think ...

Hi

Thanks for the kind response.

Oh dear that's a pity. They are sooooo cute ;-)

Yes I'm surprside that none of the big hitters have done a similar thing. There seems to be plenty of little 4 hole 'toys' and stretched harps.  But your little Mag7 is a very good practical idea.

Thanks again

None of the big hitters?

Seydel makes a six-hole harmonica called the Big Six.

To be certain, the Seydel Big

To be certain, the Seydel Big Six inspired me to build my set of seven hole harmonicas. Having that higher octave C on the blow and B on the draw is very useful.

Big Six

Sorry I should have mentioned the Seydel big 6. I have seen that harp.

As Kinya states I think the missing holes of 8 9 10 are a good compromise of miniaturisation without loosing too much harp/notes.

Thanx Richard

Friends and students know I was heavily influenced by the recordings of the late, great Paul Butterfield (recent inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame). I challenge our members to identify any recording that Paul played reeds 7, 8, 9, and 10 ;o)
