Recently watched the Ryan video with the special mic. Not having one I looked around and found an inexpensive Garrity flashlight in the basement. It's 2 1/2 inches in diameter at the light end. It's a good sized flashlight as it takes large D cells but just two so it's not crazy long or heavy. While the light only goes forward it's possible to see issues in the cup on the front end as the light hits my face or chest. Light reflecting off my face can be enough to show other cupping issues. At 2 1/2 inches it's definitely great cupping practice as it feels larger than a JT30 so it's muscle building. And it doesn't get too hot too quickly.

Brilliant! Thank you for sharing. I made a bullet mic with a light in it, but it gets hot very fast and cost me $250 to build! I like your solution. Do you mind if I share this in the Tip of the Day?

Please do though note that like your video a fairly dark room is necessary for the light to work but for general cupping practice I used the flashlight watching TV. Since joining the site, after knowing you from your books and the San Jose Masterclass this year, I owe you big time, as my improvement has been quite noticeable. My only regret concerns Masterclass. Early the first day in the Hilton I was wandering around just after you'd arrived to set up and you asked me, half jokingly, if I wanted to lend a hand. I had to say no as my wife was getting ready for me to take her out to breakfast but it would have been great fun to pick your brain in that casual environment. Maybe if I ever get to San Jose again .......

Thank you, much appreciated. P.S., taking care of your wife is much important than helping me shlep equipment... a wise choice on your part ;-)
