Deer Mr. Pollard

Im a new crossover user And I want to be sure to clean this gear correctly. I dont have the ultrasonic cleaner for the moment. Can I put the reed plate inside a bottle with a 50/50 alchool solution and shake it ? (Not the bamboo comb :) I can finish with brush thoot. it is a good idea?

Thank you

Hello Mr. B, good to hear

Hello Mr. B, good to hear from you.

For the Hohner Crossover, my recommendation for:

Light Cleaning;

  1. Keep the harmonica assembled
  2. Use a medium to hard bristle toothbrush (don't forget to ask permission, before borrowing your spouse or friend's toothbrush ;o) to brush the surface and inside holes of the mouthpiece
  3. Knock the loosened debris against the heal of your hand or thigh, then blow vigorously to remove remaining debris
  4. Spray Roche'-Thomas "Mi-T-Mist" mouthpiece cleanser (70% proponol and mint flavoring --YUM!) onto mouthpiece
  5. Wipe and buff the coverplates with a micropore type cloth

Deep Cleaning;

  1. Disassemble the harmonica--separating all the metal parts from the bamboo comb
  2. Referring to numerous Forum blogs, and/or Harp Tech Series regarding ultrasonic cleaning methods, bath all metal components (NOT the Bamboo Comb)--including coverplates, reed plates and machine screws for approximately 2-3 minutes
  3. Remove the components from ultrasonic bath, then blow dry
  4. As for the bamboo comb, carefully dry brush all harmonicoccus off the mating surfaces, mouthpiece and slots
  5. Re-assemble, then enjoy playing your crisp and clean instrument!

Your Harpsmith, Kinya
