Creating .mp3 for LOA Submission
I've been using my iPhone Voice Memo app to record my LOA submissions, but it saves audio in .m4a format rather than .mp3, and I'm finding it a bit of a pain to convert for submission. Can anybody recommend either a reliable app that records in .mp3, or a convenient way to make the file conversion?
Thanks very much.
Audacity on a Mac will process m4a files, but on Windows and Linux you need some add-ons:

iTunes may be able to convert as well. I know that you can import a CD from it in either mp3 or m4a.
Alternatively, ask the forum admin if it's ok to submit files in m4a format - thats my default choice for my own stuff nowadays when I email it or post online.
I had downloaded a free app on my iPad. It is Voice Record Pro. Nothing too fancy, but gets the job done. It originally saves in mp4 but has a button to convert the mp4 to an mp3 and save it. It processes relatively quick.

Hello PM42,
If you have a PC, Audacity is a great program for recording and mixing. It's a free app as well, and you can add effects like reverb, and clean up the track by eliminating background noise and boosting the bass or treble in the tracks. Youtube has a ton of help videos as well.
If you have a Mac, then I would recommend "Garage Band" which comes with the Mac operating system. It's a great mixing application, and again it gives you the ability to add effects. You can create your own music too as it comes with built in loops and background instrumentals and voices.
I use a small USB microphone on my PC and the Apple headset/microphone to record in Garage band and it does a nice job.
I believe there are are online websites that will also let you pull in an MP4 and convert it to an MP3 at no cost, so if you can get the file to your computer, then just find one of those sites, and convert the file to MP3 before sending to David.
If you can't convert the file, you can just email the file directly to David, because I believe he uses Apple and can listen to the MP4 file as is.
Hope that helps.
