I'm sure a very old topic. I have watched David's videos on topics, but for some reason I'm still having a problem. I use windows.

Best way to convert m4A to mp3 files?

I also have tried to drag and drop music files from desktop into itunes and having a problem with that. (I'm not married to using itunes, was just following David's video suggestions).

Appreciate any suggestions.

(NOTE: I joined back in 2009 and started learning for about a year...then "life got in the way" and over 10 years later I'm back and starting at the begining)!

Thank you.

There's several ways. I'll list two.

You can download many free tools to do this. One of them is audacity, a full fledged audio editor that allows you to process many audio formats, add effects, etc and of course convert between formats. You can download it at https://www.audacityteam.org/download/mac/. I think it has some export option to convert to mp3.

If learning this software is too complicated and you don't care about your file being sent to internet servers (which who knows what they do with it), for example if they are just LOA exercises and you don't worry about others getting your recordings, you can also try some online conversion tools, which usually are as simple as it gets and require installing no software. I did a quick search and https://audio.online-convert.com/convert-to-mp3 is one website which seems to do what you need. I didn't try it myself, though.

Peter757, this isn't related

Peter757, this isn't related to M4A files, but I saw your Level 1 announcement on FB (congraulations!) and thought I'd share that I'm in Williamsburg too.

Audacity and M4A

You may need to download and install some extensions to Audacity so that it can deal with M4A. Google it.

Williamsburg

Hi Eric, thanks for reaching out! I moved to Williamsburg about 2 months ago. Tough to "experience" in the COVID19 era!

I'm just starting over on my harmonica journey, looking forward to it.

Welcome to the 'Burg! There

Welcome to the 'Burg! There are some fine players in the area (Harris Simon and Bobby Blackhat come to mind).
