Hi Greg:

I am a beginner who want to try amplified playing recently. Unfortunately I live in a small apartment so I feel the mic-Amplifier setup will disturb my neighbor. I am wondering whether I can connect the hohner harp blaster hb52 to the computer, record directly, and use something like IK multimedia Amplitube 5 to add amplifier affect? If yes, what kind of connection do you recommend? Thank you!

Best wishes

Jingzhou

Hello Yes you can do that -

Hello, Jingzhou

Yes you can do that - you need an “audio interface”  to connect the mic to your computer. I don’t know anything about those, but I know that many people use a brand called “Focusrite Scarlett” Another option is the Positive Grid Spark GO amp - this is a tiny little amp that has digital modeling and sounds quite good through headphones.

Hi Greg:   Thank you for your

Hi Greg:

Thank you for your suggestions! I looked into the positive grid spark Go amp. It's a low impedance amp(8ohms) while harp blaster HB52 is a high impedance mic. The spark Go amp uses 1/4" guitar input and the user manual said it has Hi-Z mode (though I don't know how it will turn out). Do you think connect the harp blaster HB52 to spark Go using XLR female to 1/4 TS, pin 2 hot is OK? Or do I need DI box to match the impedance? Thank you again for your help!

Hi - I own the Spark GO. The 1/4" input is not low imepdance, it is high impedance and will work fine with your HB52 and existing cable.
