Hey Dave,

I've watched your videos in FAQ about running out of breath and making a good 2 Draw.  I'm trying to work on closing off the nose because I fill up very quickly.  I don't think I'm getting the idea of closing off the nose though.  It seems that I have to raise the same muscle in the back of my mouth that humps up the tongue, which is what you don't want to do on the 2 Draw and high draws.

What am I missing?

Thanks.

Good evening. This is a different muscle. Bending is controlled by the tongue, and you're correct, you don't want to raise the tongue. The soft palette is controlled by a different muscle.

The best suggestion I can give you is to yawn... it raises the soft palette, lowers the tongue and opens the throat a bit for big tone. Also try the other exercises I mention in the video and focus on not moving the tongue, the tongue doesn't have anything to do with the closing of your nasal tract.

I wish I could help more... it will take experimentation on your end to find it.

Thanks Dave. A follow up question if you're able to inhale for 30 seconds on a 4 draw how long should you be able to inhale on a 2 draw?

All draw notes should be

All draw notes should be about the same. The 2 draw is most certainly the most challenging, so expect it to take some time.
