Hi David.
I am watching your chromatic studies and I wan to ask you about How do you attack the octaves?
Do you play Just like the normal Ka on tongue blocking or do you make something else?

Thanks.

Answer

You can use a KA, but what's even more common is either the Side-Pull or Octave Pull-Slap. The side pull is where you cover all of the holes with your tongue and then release the sides of your tongue to sound the octave. The octave pull slap is where you cover all of the holes with your tongue, perform the pull and immediately slap the tongue back on for the octave.
