Hello Kinya am working on a Hohner CBH 2016 for a person. And this is the first time I have ever messed with a chromatic harmonica. The things that I have noticed with it. Reeds 1 blow and 4 blow with slide out had a rattling sound. Reed 12 draw and 12 blow with slide out are slow to respond.

The first thing I did was put the reeds under my microscope to see if the were center good. And there were a few I had to recenter. And that seemed to fix 4 blow rattling sound. But 1 blow still seem to be a rattling sound. If blown hard but if blown soft I don't seem to hear it. So could the wind saver be making the rattling sound. And as far as 12 draw and 12 blow am assuming the gap is to wide. Because I have to force air hard through it to get a sound. Then the sound kinda creeps up.

Hello JF, I love this crazy

Hello JF, I love this crazy chromatic harmonica, and have owned and played many CBH16 and CBH12 models. Norton Buffalo was a fan and Robert Bonfiglio still swears by them for their speed and accuracy. Factoid: It was one of the first "close tolerance" products to be built with DuPont's Delron plastic.

Q1: But 1 blow still seem to be a rattling sound. If blown hard but if blown soft I don't seem to hear it. So could the wind saver be making the rattling sound.

A1: Yes, you are correct. Replace the wind savers with other Hohner or Seydel wind savers.

Q2: and as far as 12 draw and 12 blow am assuming the gap is to wide. Because I have to force air hard through it to get a sound. Then the sound kinda creeps up.

A2: Correct again, but be mindful that the 12 reeds are very short.

Your Harpsmith, Kinya
