Hello there Kinya, thank you for you involvment with this site.

I have 2 Chromatic harmonicas, ad Hohner Super Chromonica 270 Deluxe and a Hohner CX12.

I cannot get a sounc out of the Eb on the 1st hole of the Super Chrominca. I can easily with the CX12.

I have done light cleaning and Mighty Misting of both harps and I am aware of how you should handle cleaning with

the Chromatic versus the Diatonic.

I can play all of the notes on the 1st hold, but the Eb, when you have to push the slider in. No sound at all.

Is this a cleaning issue of a Harp issue.

Off hand could you help me?

Will

Eb issues

Hello Will, Good to hear from you.

Hmm ... we need to check under the hood. I'm suspicious of two things:

  1. Check the gap on the first #1 draw reed (Eb) located on the bottom reed plate. This should be in the .007" ~ .009" gap range.
  2. Difficult to see without disassembling your 270, but there is a wind saver (valve) glued to the opposite side of this reed. The flappy side should face the mouthpiece. Make certain it is not stuck over the slot, and moves freely.

Try this first, then get back to us.

Your Harpsmith, Kinya
