A harp

Ian the early lessons are on an A harp. The G harp that you have purchased will come in handy in later lessons anda good one to own. Whilst there is software that can change the pitch of the backing tracks you might be better off getting a harp in the key of A to add to the range of keys you will need as a harp player. Typically players are advised to own over time  harps in A  Bb C  D G and low F for the completion of all the lessons. If you don't intend to complete the levels program then a C harp will be what you would need for the introductory lessons in for C harp  Look in the lessons menue. Happy harping.

Nothing stopping you from using a G

You will likely get the best benefit when using the correct harmonica for the lessons.  However, there is nothing stopping you from doing the lessons with any key harmonica.  Submitting material to David for review might be a problem as he may be unwilling to want to figure out what key you are playing in.  If all you want is to do the lessons, use any harp of choice.  If you want to do the Levels of Achievement program you will need the correct harp for the lesson.

Except for doing the Levels of Achievement, submissions are only for your benefit and are not required, which is why you can use any harp.  Just understand that as you play along with David's recordings your harp will be out of key with his.

More than once I put my C harmonic in my pocket before leaving the house.  I’ve had no problem practicing with a C harmonica while playing along with David’s recordings in key of A.

I'm only on level 2 so take my words with cauton as I may be too inexperanced for giving advice.

Thanks - Looks like I'm off to the music store to buy an A harp.

Many thanks
