Hi David, hope all is well.

As you may recall, I just recently finished improvising study 1 in LOA 4. I really wanted to jump right into the improv lesson so I started Buffet Line to keep me in practice. I would thereby continue playing while also learning improv as well.

It has been a bit slow going, though, given the improv module, recent travel, and the holidays. I am now on bar 9 of chorus 5, so just over 1/2 to conclusion. My question concerns how to address this along with LOA4.

I don't know that it would be a wise idea to learn Gary's Blues at the same time that I'm still learning Buffet Line. Is there another lesson in LOA4 that would compliment Buffet Line in the same way that the improv lesson did? I would hate to drop Buffet Line 1/2 way through the process.

Even more soe, do you think I'm making too much of learning two songs at the same time? Should I just drop Buffet Line and start on Gary's blues or learn both at the same time?

Hello Ace. I would say to

Hello Ace. I would say to have fun with buffet line, focusing on that. You could also do some solo harmonica study, maybe some music theory, but just enjoy that, and then go into the study songs for level four. There are two study songs for level four, one for tongue blocking, and one for bending. So, you will be learning two songs. It’ll probably be a good idea to finish buffet line first.

Ok, follow up question

Sounds good.

Also, Im learning songs 3-5 bars at a time, sequentially from the beginning. It's often occurred to me that be the time I've learned the final bar, I may have played the first four bars 1,000 times. Is this the correct way of learning? Is there a better way?

Thanks in advance

That method is fine, just

That method is fine, just don't always start from the beginning when you study. Jump right to the new area... only playing the material you already know fairly well once or twice at the end of your practice session.
