Hi David! Happy New Year. Starting lessons.. breathing through harmonica ..finding myself holding my breath. How do I regulate my breathing to allow enough air to draw and blow. Like breaths when singing verses of a song? Rick Danger Tully NY. Post script... did some reading bout Syracuse blues history. Had not heard much blues before moving to Syracuse area from Binghamton NY. Lucky had occasion to see ”The Fabulous Thunderbird in small venue in Syracuse NY.

Welcome to the site Richard. Can you clarify for me please. Are you saying that when trying to breathe through the harmonica, you are not able to?

Hello Richard. If it's an

Hello Richard. If it's an exercise, just pause when you feel winded and try again when you're ready. If you're playing a song, then focus on taking in, or getting rid of, air (whichever is needed) when there is a rest in the music. You can also steal a little bit of time from the end of long-held notes.
