breathing
hello
some people on youtube can push air through harmonica for minutes(or pull-making draw sound last very long). how to do it, please? I am working on my bends now and noticed that my draw sounds last longer while trying to bend compering to basic draw( tongue flat in mouth). this battle about breathe drains me , makes training sessions much shorter.
as to sending u recordings- is it free with my membership please
regards Robert
It's okay Leo, I'm here to help.
The goal is to hump the tongue, not push it forward (blocking the hole).
Take a look at my bending lesson and you'll see the different spots you raise your tongue for the different bends. As you practice those bends, focus on raising the tongue to the spot I teach, and not raising the entire tongue, blocking off the airway.
For example, when moving to the "K" spot (doing it quickly will make it more evident), your tongue only raises at the spot in the back of the mouth for the K, with the front of tongue not moving.
You'll get it... we're asking the tongue to do new things, and it takes time to train it, and confirm it's doing what we intend it to do.

Hello Robert.
Yes, you're on the premium membership... you can send me recordings for review. On the lesson pages there is "Submit your recording for review."
The issue is that your nose is open when playing your draw notes... you'll want to work on closing it. I have a lesson on this, and it can be found here: https://www.bluesharmonica.com/lessons/breathing_harmonica
P.S., the reason why it's not an issue when you're bending, is when bending, though you're not aware of it, your nasal cavity is closing as you move into a bend. You can't bend with your nasal cavity open, so your body figured that one out on its own.
