Breath control
Hello David,
So I am on Solo harmonica studdy 2 example 2.1.
There are quite some inhale notes and cords there, espacially if I want to repeat the pattern a couple of times I cant help but get fuller and fuller of air that I have trouble dumping out.
I have checked the FAQ breathing hints and also Joe Filisco's lesson on breathing, so am trying to follow the guidelines there but even if I dump all the airat the beginning and as much as I try to keep it out I still get full.
I am trying my best not to breathe through the nose on the inhale notes/cords and it works (more or less) fine for me.
I understand that on that specific pattern I am supposed to dump the excessive air when playing a 5+ with a slap, but it is just too short, so I am trying (to my best abilities) to exhale through my nose as well.
The thing is if I really try to dump everything in thet one breath I quite often compromise the sound, by either making it too loud and even sometimes my mouth inflates and I blow in more holes then I am supposed to.
Would you have any tips how can I try to approach that specific case?
i.e. quickly get ridd of the excessive air without compromising the sound?
Thanks in advance!
Stay safe!
Hello Angel. You will get it with practice and time... you know what you need to do (and you’re doing it), it will just take time.
