Hi,

Just thought I'd mention that I've just bought a used fender '59 bassman reissue.  Made in '95 and has the blue frame  eminence speakers.  I pick it up tomorrow.  I am very excited.

Bassman Update

Picked up the bassman on Sunday and it's in much better condition than I expected despite it having been gigged with, clearly well looked after.

Tried it out Tuesday with my guitar and it was loud but very crackly. I heard it playing with guitar when I picked it up. It crackled a bit then. I assumed it was the tubes which I was going to swap out anyway.

Well, the new tubes arrived this morning and so I swapped them all.

I swapped them as per Mark Overman's on bassman chronicles: balanced AT7; AY7; AU7; New JJ power tubes and 5U4GB rectifier tube. All tubes are JJ's.

I also used a jumper cable between normal channel 2 and bright channel 1.

Turned it on and absolutely no background noise whatsoever. No crackles or hum - nothing. I used a shure green bullet mic and lone wolf delay. set volume to 4.5. Bearing in mind I am level three working at level 4 LOH so my playing is very limited still, but this amp is awsome, you literally can feel the sound hit you. It clearly was a good choice of amp.
