Hello David!

Could you please specify the content of the "Blues Harmonica Play-Along Trax" - http://www.melbay.com/Products/21055BCDEB/default.aspx

I would like to know - does this book contain study songs with tabulatures(like at your site)? or just jam tracks for playing along?

Thank you,

Sergey

Hello Sergey. The audio

Hello Sergey. The audio contains grooves common to modern-day blues harmonica players in various keys and tempos. I do give an example for each groove of what you could play in regards to accompaniment, but there are no study songs.

Straight eighths to a shuffle

Good morning David,

At the moment I'm taking all my favourite licks from the study song The Strut and putting them into the various chorus forms. I've found a rock jam track which is a shuffle. My question is, can I use the straight eighth licks and put them into shuffle form so that they fit the jam track.

Many Thanks,

Paul

Good morning Paul. You'll

Good morning Paul. You'll need to change the rhythmic presentation of the licks from straight-eights to swing-eighths. This means all of your upbeat eighth notes will be placed later in time so they swing. Otherwise all other rhythms generally remain the same. Some licks will work, others will not... probably 50% would be my guess (some will fit, but will sound weird).

Straight eighths to a shuffle

Thank you David,

I've experimented and some licks do sound a bit weird. However, after a bit of experimentation, adding pulls and bends etc...., the licks dont sound too bad. Once I've extracted all my favourite licks and put them into chorus form, I'll record and send you a copy so that you can provide some guidance if thats ok. Once again thank you for your help,

Kind Regards,

Paul

Adding pulls for a shuffle is

Adding pulls for a shuffle is a good idea. Sure, send it my way.
