Good afternoon Mr. Barret, first of all I hope you are doing well. Im a very new member in the course and im so exited to learn how to play my blues harp with your lessons, but i have a little problem:i spent all my savings in the Special 20 in the key of C, and in my first lesson you mention that its necessary to have an A harmonica. Does it means that i cant take the lessons unless i get an A harp? or there is something i can do. please help! thanks in advance and have a good day!

Welcome to the site

Welcome to the site Templar25. There is an intro lesson for those with only the C Harmonica, and it's found here http://www.bluesharmonica.com/lessons/c_harmonica_intro_lesson. After this lesson, if you decide to continue, you'll need to pick up an A Harmonica (this C Harmonica study will keep you busy for 2-3 months, so there's no hurry). Best wishes on your studies.

Hello Chelsea. You can use

Hello Chelsea.

You can use that harmonica, but you won't be able to play along with me in the videos or on the MP3's (though if you use the Amazing Slow Downer program, you can change the key of the song to match your G harmonica by moving the recording down two semitones).

I recommend you purchase an A harmonica.

In regards to music notation... it's not necessary to read music. I use a TAB system that shows with hole numbers where to blow and draw.

Order of harmonica purchases

Hi David,

I hope that you are well.

Similar to the good people preceding me in the chain, I have a harmonica other than the required key of A (C in my case). The previous responses above are therefore noted and appreciated.

I would however like to know if there is any page on the website that can give me an indication of which key of harmonica will be required for the respective levels of the Levels of Achievement (LoA) course so as to plan for future purchases if required (in addition to the A harmonica). Alternatively, could you please advise whether an A harmonica is used for the bulk or fundumentally all of the LoA course.

I would actually recommend that such guidance be provided either in the LoA support documents or the website FAQs.

Hello Clayton88, welcome to

Hello Clayton88, welcome to the site. Yes, the A harmonica is used for all of the beginning LOA courses. The next harmonicas, in order of use, are the G, D, Bb, and Low-F (I didn't list the C since you already have one). Thanks for the tip, I will add that to FAQ.
