Hi David - impressed as all get out with the intro videos and the potential of BlueDadi. Big time thanks to John Shirley. I'm aware of the 'proviso's' that accomapny a free app. I thought though he would like to know that this message came up when I tried to fire up the app on my Mac - OS El Capitan 10.11.4:

“Blue Dadi v1_1d” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Trash.

I trashed it, did a complete uninstall and downloaded again with the same result I'm not sure if others are experiencing the same thing. I'd very much like to give it a go and if John wants further information, please pass my email info on to him.

Thanks David - I'm looking forward to the workshop in July. Unfortunately, the airlines won't let me bring my kayak so I'm dryland for the trip (airlines =Cheryl)

Let me know

Thanks for the kind words and feedback, Hank.

As David's post alludes to, this message is likely due to the security-based restrictions the initial OS settings place on apps not downloaded directly from the Apple Store. Apple's security, and interest in users buying software directly from them, is getting bolder every year....

Let me know if that change in Security settings works for you.

BINGO!!

That did it - big time thanks David and John. It fired up, gave me the need to update Java message and once that was done, it fired up fine. When I get back later, I'll start to play with it.

Many thanks guys!!

Audio interface for pc?

Do you have a recommendation for an audio interface to use with a pc? It looks like the Apogee jam is just for Apple. I did a Google search but the results were quite expensive.

Thanks,

Greg

Greg, Though I have not

Greg,

Though I have not personally tried these, they look like they'll do the job well for you...

Good call

I have used both of these and been happy with each.... and both have a lot more features than the Apogee Jam. These days I'd give the edge to the Focusrite in terms of interface, sample rate options and software, but it does run $30 more bucks. I've also been using the bigger sibling of the 2i2 a lot lately, the 18i8, with great results.

Note: both the Presonus and the Focustire will work great with most harp mics, but if you use crystals regularly you may still want to consider use of an extra buffer stage, as the input impedance on the Presonus is 500kOhms (which is very good but not quite as high as the >5MOhm ideal for crystals to achieve their full frequency response). That's not surprising, though, as most amps and interfaces don't have input impedances that high. Harmonica specific buffers of that kind include the Lone Wolf Terminator ($89) and the Kinder Maximizer ($140).

That said:

1) if you've been playing your crystal through an amp with an impedance of 500k or less and really dig the tone, you may not like the change in tone you’ll hear using the buffer.

2) The Blue Dadi has plenty of EQ that could be used to make up for some lost highs if you’d like….

;-)

Thank you

Thank you Dave and John.  I will check out those recommendations.  No crystal here. I have a Blues Blaster with a Heumann element.
