Hi, Greg

Is there a trick to removing the 3-pin connector from a BL JT-30 without wrecking the shell, so I can replace it with a screw-on?

Thanks,

Mark H.

Hi, Marcos There's no trick -

Hi, Marcos

There's no trick - it is pressed in and glued. First remove the inner connector and cut the wire so they aren't damaged. I put the outer portion in a vise and clamp it down until the connector is deformed - then pull and twist. It will come out.

I encourage you to put the connector in the rear hole - makes the mic more comfortable to play. That hole is already 3/8" which is too big to drill and tap for a secure fit of the connector. I bore that hole out to 1/3" and then fabricate a bushing to press fit into the hole. That bushing is internally threaded for the screw-on connector. That's the only way to do the job right.

Cheers

/Greg
