Hi David

When playing octaves I sometimes notice beats in the sound without trying throat tremelo. Should I put throat tremelo over the top of the beats or just except the beats and the speed that they occur at? Thanks.

Andy

Hello Andy. Beats in octaves

Hello Andy. Beats in octaves can be caused by two things...

1) One of your notes of the octave is out of tune

2) You're bending one of the reeds unintentionally. Make sure the middle and back of your tongue is down so that you don't unintentionally bend.

Yes, we generally allow the beats of the octave replace the tremolo... embrace the cool sound (as long as it's not too out of tune).
