I have been trying to record a rendition of David’s “Passing Time” to share as a celebration at achieving my LOA5. It’s a fast piece and I have been playing it to improve my speed playing.  Using Audacity for the recording I found that every time I made a recording my playing was a fraction of a beat slower than the background music. I tried a number of times with the same result. Then I noticed that the backing music in my recording was also showing a fraction late. I am using a USB Sampson mike and it is also picking up the backing music that I am playing to. This has now been remedied by cutting a fraction of a piece at the front end of my playing so as to have the backing and my recording that is picking up the backing music aliened. Result perfect timing.

Has anyone else found this issue and how else can it be remedied.

Hi John, Have a read of

Hi John,

Have a read of this:

https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/latency_test.html

I've always just manually time shifted the track until it sounded right. But when I saw you with the same question, I googled it and it looks like they already have a solution.

I'm going to give it a try.
