Hi,

completely new to amplified playing I am very satisfied with the HX Stomp.

Currently I am just using reverb and amp simulation, but I wonder if anybody is using this devide too ...

best,Marc

Looks interesting

Once you get familiar with the HX Stomp, any chance you would be willing to post a review on it.  It really looks interesting.

My own experience with this

Well, thanx Brian for asking me for a short review ...

Definitely I'd like to share my experience, although I have no prior experience in amplified playing and no experience in public playing.

So I only use the stomp for training sessions.

Phyical it is:

- A very solid device with metal casing; feels like ready for stage
- A little colour-display, some buttons and knobs
- Three robust foot-switches
- Lots of connectors all around the edges

Electrical:

- Can easily plug in my Microphone (Hohner Harp Blaster) no impedance matching needed
- Input-Jack, which accepts my iPhone (playing the backing track)
- Headphone Jack, which delivers Microphone plus backing track
- Output Jack, which allows to feed this to an Audio-Interface on my Computer (e.g. for skype)
- USB-output which probably allows to connect to a PC even without audio Interface (have not tried)

From the Software-Side:

- It is complex, because it can do a lot of things and does it right
- In fact I had to read the 60-pages (?) manual; interesting read !
- But I read it only once or twice, because the handling concept is very logical and can be learned fast

Ergonomically:

- I use this as my all-in-one device for practicing amplified with headphones: No PC needed.
- So its fast and easy to prepare for a training session; If I have 20 Minutes of time, I use it
- Informs me about the various effects (e.g. echo vs reverb, etc)

Oeconomically:

- 600€, I think it is worth it

Musically:

- It is geared towards Guitar, of course
- I mostly use only a fraction of its function: Reverb and Amp-Simulation (two blocks), giving a nice detailed sound,
revealing all the details and errors of my playing
- It can do up to six blocks simulatnously; I think this is equal to six different pedals, so more than I will probably need
- With something called "kinky boost" (e.g) it sound really distorted and I feel like a Chicago Pro :-)
- One- or twohundred (guess) different blocks are already available; this is much more than I need, but even more can be bought
- There is a (rather basic) equilizer-section with low, high and mid
- For me (loa4) it just sounds great !

Best regards
Marc

Thanks for taking the time to review this device.

Thanks, Marc, for the review.  Hopefully, the coronavirus crap will soon be over, and I can get back to funding my toy budget.  I think I will add an HX Stomp to my toy wish list.  From what I’m hearing in your review this maybe a good practice tool for playing amplified.

Thanks for taking the time to review this device.

Yes, and thats the way I use it

And probably it wont let me down, if some day I should come to play with others or in public :-)
