Im working on one of my weaknesses and that is accompaniment and fills. So I want to start actively listening to harmonica accompaniments. Any suggestions for songs with some good easy to hear harmonica comping?

Also if you have any advice or suggestions on comping that would also be appreciated

Thank you Eric_C.  I just

Thank you Eric_C.

I just opened up my music app and played "deep down in florida", "rock me", and "im ready". In "im ready" I can hear the sutle nature of the harmonica in the back going along like all the other instuments. "Rock me" is much more ative taking the fills. "Deep down in florida" doesnt seem like a comp but rather another vocalist. Ill keep listening. Thanks.

The Blues Never Die

I think that's one of the records David suggests listening to in his book about blues accompaniment playing. Otis Spann and James Cotton are two blues greats and Cotton's accompaniment has a lot of variety there.

Also, unrelated to accompaniment, but I love the version of Lightnin' that Cotton plays on that record.

Little Watter examples

Listen to just about anything Jimmy Rogers recorded where his vocals are backed up by Little Walter. As an accompanist, Walter always sounded "busy" without stepping on the vocals at all.
