Good Morning David,

I have just started accompaniament study 3 and seem to having problems with exercise 2.3. Here goes.

Whilst staying on hole 2, as I understand it the one chord relates to 2 draw  (G), the four chord relates to 2 blow (E), but when I get to the five chord in bars 9 and 12 what hole will I be playing and why (I am the sort of person who needs to understand the mechanics of why I'm doing something).

Whilst writing, once again many thanks for the comments on the level 2 test, they were most welcolme.

Lastly I hope you had a great weekend at the Harmonica Masters.

Many Thanks,

Paul

Answer

Hello Paul.

Yes, 2 draw (G, Root) for the I Chord. 2 draw (G, 5th) or 2+ (E, 3rd) for the IV Chord. For the V Chord there is no option until we get into bending. When your bending skill is more advanced we'll use 2' (F#, 3rd) for the V Chord, but for now leave it blank and when that part of the music comes (Bar 9) go down to the 1 draw D.

P.S., if you would like to dig into more of the theory you can study chords in Music Theory Study 3, making sure to complete Study 1 and Study 2 along the way of course.
