Hi,

I have a Kalamzoo model 2 and I understand that the rectifier tube in that one is 6X4. In the "all you need to know about amps" video David talks recommends the 5U4GB recitifier tube. Can that be used instaed of the 6X4 in the Kalamzoo model 2?

Bst regards

Fredrik

5U4 in a Kalamazoo?

Hello Fredrik-  Thanks for writing.  The 6X4 rectifier tube that is used in your Kalamazoo is a 7-pin tube and the 5U4 is an 8-pin tube.  They use completely different sockets.  There is no substitute for the 6X4, so stick with it!  My advice is to buy a backup tube now while NOS American tubes are still available and affordable.
