Dave - Im just getting confused with all the terminology. I get how the 2nd position for a C harmonica is derived for a G scale. Why dont we call it playing the C harmonica in the 5th scale position, instead of the 2nd position. Why is the second position terminology is being used? Is it because you can find the first G note on a C harmonica at the second draw tab?

Hello Baruch. The naming of

Hello Baruch. The naming of positions is based on the Circle of 5ths. As you continue through Music Theory Study 2 you'll see how this works for 3rd, 4th, etc. and the explenations of these positions will help the concept of the circle of fifths to click in your mind the more you study. It will also be important for you to go back and review how the major scales are built... the circle of fifths is used there as well.
