Hi David,

I can sort of make 1' and 2', and sometimes 2'', but it it feels pretty weird, and I'm not sure I should be doing it this way. It feels like maybe my mouth is too small to make a space big enough for those notes, so I actually flex my tongue and lips to push the back of my mouth and throat back further, toward the back of my neck! At least that's what it feels like (and it's not too comfortable), but it does seem to bend the pitch down enough.

Is that right, or should I stop that?

Thanks,
Bob

Hello Bob. The focus is on your tongue... nothing else... so focus on what your tongue does when making your "I'm glad the audience can't see what my face looks like behind this harmonica" pose. ;-)

For the 2", dropping your jam a bit and saying "ku" as far back in your mouth as possible, without swallowing your tongue, is the goal. Keep at it, you'll get it!
