Winter Recital

Winter BluesHarmonica.com Student Recital

It’s time for BluesHarmonica.com’s winter recital! This is your opportunity to share what you’ve been working on with friends, family and the BluesHarmonica.com community. You can submit (one recording per student) a study song from the site, an original instrumental (such as what you’ve done for any of the Improvising Studies) or a classic blues tune you love to play. Submissions are open from November 15th through the end of December. The recordings are open to the public to listen to and BluesHarmonica.com subscribers to comment. David Barrett will also listen to your submission. If you would like David to provide constructive criticism on your performance, state it in your comments and he'll do so. Get to work… we look forward to your submission!

Cold Winter

Guillaume-15's picture

Hello everyone! I post today my first blues instrumental on chromatic and diatonic harmonica. I call him "Cold Winter". It's a slow minor blues (I use the slow blues in Dm backing track). I use a Chromatic harmonica in C and a diatonic harmonica (marine band classic) in c for a blues in 3rd position. The introduction lick is modeled by the version of "She's a Wrong Woman" by Bacon Fat ( I think it's Rod Piazza who play in this tune?). I switch the last chorus with diatonic harmonica ( this chorus is influenced by "Telephone Blues" by George Harmonica Smith). continue reading...

quick swing in c

Bluevan's picture

Been studying Blowning my horn study song for awhile now, and just improvised the jam tring to get the same feel. Tried to remember  the head right at the end was tricky and I dont think it was the same but close enough. Definetly not perfect and some stumbling going on but was fun playing it.   I used a 1956 Gibson Ga-6 with a small shell shure bullet w/black label CR, lone wolf delay. Dave could you reveiw track, thank you. Bluevan

JeremyHunt's picture

We're supposed to submit what we're working on, right? Well, I'm still working on this, but it's pretty close. But often 10+ really doesn't want to cooperate.

Your comments appreciated.

Easy Baby (Chromatic Studies)

Guillaume-15's picture

Hello everyone, I re post today the Study Song "Easy Baby" on chromatic harmonica, I play on for a short time and I found that this piece was a superb training even if my post has many defects. Could have a return on my chromatic playing by the master David Barrett because I play for 2 years now and I don't have a real feedback on my playing and your advices are precious. Thank you very much
