Hello Harp Techs,

Followers of the Harpsmith blogs know I’m a big fan of 3m Blue Painters Tape--known for its precision masking quality, with easy-to-peel-off characteristics that leaves no sticky residue.

Most of the time, I use it to temporarily clamp down my work when a third hand is required, but recently I found another use for the Blue Tape--clean harmonica parts.

Water and toothbrush were not available at the time I was working on a KONGSHENG “Lyra” Galaxy Series Chromatic Harmonica (SC-12). Using even pressure, I applied strips of Blue Tape onto the slider components and mouthpiece. After a few moments, I peeled the tape away and was able to pull off some Harmonicoccus and other nasties.

Your Harpsmith, Kinya
