Having read that listening to a tune repeatedly is all part of learning to play it, I want to find a free or cheap way to download tunes that I'm working on. Apple used to let users download even just one song for a small fee but they seem to have stopped this in favour of a subscription. Any advice please on how to get just a small number of tunes onto a phone without paying lots of money?
I'm a diatonic mostly blues player (Special 20s and Rockets).I've thought about getting one of the tool sets and videos to customize my harps (gap, flatten reed plates and combs, shape the reed, emboss, tune, etc.) for better or easier playability?Curious how much of a difference you feel like a custom harp makes? (easier to play, easier to bend, etc. etc)? continue reading...
I get asked to play alongside with pre-booked bands for weddings or church events. I often come across the following challenges and I would like to know from fellow musicians how you deal with these situations.
My teenage daughter is becoming quite the jazz musician, and I would like to be able to play more than the 12 bar blues with her. To that end, I have been working on the music theory lessons, here, as well as learning overbends. Both of these skills are in the "work in progress" status, but they are coming along. Would love to hear feeback on anything else I should or could be doing to hasten my progress toward being able to play jazz comfortably on a diatonic harp.
Hello,Am I doing tremolo? Im opening and closing my vocal cords as David Barrett teaches. But if vibrato is about a pitch. Does it mean that tremolo shouldn't have a change in pitch? I link video of 1 blow tremolo, on an app that shows pitch of a sound.https://www.youtube.com/shorts/JMlaGiOPYCA
I'm currently reading 'The Practice of Practice' by Jonathan Harnum (which is excellent by the way). In it, he talks about finding ways of breaking the boredom of practice and so I thought I might buy a bullet mic and amplifier. Can anyone recommend a cheapish bullet mic and amp. I live in the UK.
I have been watching an instruction video on how to play the harmonica licks on 'Scratch My Back' by Slim Harpo and have come across the terms 'scoop' and 'vibrato'. Both techniques seem similar to 'dip' and 'tremolo' which I understand (and can play). What are the differences?
Also, can anyone point me to lessons on how to do tongue splits (octaves for example) on this site.
Does anyone know of a way to purchase this album digitally? The CD is out there but I am unable to find a digital version. Not a big deal as I can make due with the hard copy but I figured I'd check to see if I'm missing something.
