"Sinners" !
Finally watched "Sinners." (Checked DVD out of our local public library.)
What an amazing movie! I'd love to hear what those of you who have seen it thought about it. A lot to digest. I've read essays about it, talking about all of the alegorical stuff going on. E.g., was Sammie Moore's name taken from Sam Moore of Sam & Dave? (After all, Sam Moore was also the son of a preacher, and lived to be 90, passing away just this past January.)
Was the movie soley about racism and Jim Crow? Or also about vampires? Or about the blues?
While filmed in Louisiana, how'd the CGI wizards make it look so much like the area in and around Clarksdale MS?
And for those of you who have seen it, I sure hope you didn't walk out (or turn off) when the credits started. The mid-credits ending (or epilogue) with Buddy Guy was amazing. A Best Supporting Actor award for an 89-year-old blues icon?
Lots of our favorite blues musicians in the credits, both on screen and off screen. In particular, off screen on the soundtrack, on harmonica, Ross Garren and Bobby Rush. (David: When you gonna' interview each of them?)
If you haven't seen it yet, go find it. If you have, lemme' know what you think!
