Stones: Under My Thumb with Harp instead of Marimba

The cover band that I'm in tried to play "Under My Thumb" by the Rolling Stones.

A key instrument in this song is a Marimba. We had none but there is a way to substitute the Marimba by a harp.

To demo this I recorded it along with the original song (this gives you a chance to identify the song;-))  - hope, that is allowed (?). We are on Bluesharmonica.com and this is not blues but it shows that a harp can do something even in a place where not expected. continue reading...

Hotrod Deville 4x10 converted to 5f6a bassman

So I had this Deville 4/10 for years and never really used it, so decided to gut it(remove the printed circuit board) and build a PTP  tweed bassman circuit.  I used all the Devilles transformers so it doesnt have a tube rectifier like the original , it uses a diode rectifier. 2 6L6s, 1 12ay7, 2 12ax7s

Little ditty with acoustic harp (solo in the middle, and outro). In F (second position, Bb harp)

Performed and produced in quarantine by only a very talented friend (T.A. James, one-time bass player for Carey Bell, and all round musical genius) and myself. Done piecemeal from our homes, we never spoke or saw each other during the production of this.

The process started by picking a chord progression, in this case an 8-bar similar to "Ain't Nobody's Business," which evolved somewhat, then adding a bridge. T.A. laid down all the tracks except vocal and harp.  continue reading...
