Recording yourself and listening back is an important part of the learning process (an amazing self-assessment tool). Have the sheet music of the song you’re reviewing in front of you as you listen back. Highlight areas that need work. Work on those areas for a couple of days and rerecord yourself and repeat this self-assessment process. You don’t need to use an elaborate recording setup—the memo app on your phone is perfect for quick and easy recording.
