I talked with Dale Laslie, of Megatone amp fame, about a good speaker for the early Concert amps; he suggested a tenderized Eminence red fang speaker, rather then the Jensen jet. After chatting about the limited break-up on this amp, he said, "his research has shown that disconnecting the negative feedback loop to the phase inverter would warm the tone, and get better break-up". After taking his advice, I did both. This is an amp that has a no name power and output transformer, it has mis-matched vintage Jensen C10q's on top, and a lil buddy and the fang on the bottom. The result is, percentage-wise, oh, 25 to 30%! i have been swapping speakers for 2 years now, without the speaker, the mod is like taking the pipes off a Corvette, loud and aggressive, but a little unmanageable, the fang, along with the mod, made this amp a thing of beauty, not just another vintage 4-10 that is a "poor man's Bassman".
