Hello Harp Techs,

A mantra drummed into my head throughout my childhood, “Be true to your teeth and they won’t be false to you”.

The same could be said about your harmonica mouthpiece. Preventing debris from being sucked into reeds could help mitigate reeds from “locking up”. An event that occurs when particles lodges itself in between the reed and reed plate slot.

So when Nicki, my Dental Hygienist recommended these little disposable gizmos (made by GUM) to floss my teeth, I immediately saw how the soft “fins” could sweep up debris and minimize the chance for the particles to fall into the harmonica. Available online and at most Drug Stores.

See the white film buildup located at the opening of the mouthpiece hole. Note, this harmonica is actually not too horrible … some I’ve seen are unbelievably grotesque ;o)

Your Harpsmith, Kinya
