Country Music Chord Progressions

Does country music follow the same chord progressions as the 12-bar blues?

Sometimes it does, but it uses several different progressions. Country is partly based in traditional music, but a good deal of it is just pop music with lyrics, instrumentation, and vocal delivery (and costumes and stage sets) that are intended to mark it as "country."

A few common progressions:

I IV V I (Great Speckled Bird, Honky Tonk Angels, Wabash Cannonball, first part of Your Cheatin' Heart)

I I IV IV I I V V I I IV IV I V I I (Hot Rod LIncoln)
